Success Re-Heading Tupan! A Few More Questions

I have completed my first re-heading of my tupan using rings-and-mali weave! Thanks Jeffrey! I just have a couple of questions. First, what do I do with the end of the rope when I've completed the mali weave? At the moment, I just have it run underneath a few of the verticals. Second, when the skins are dry, and I want to fine-tune the drum, how do I do that? Do I undo the mali-weave completely, and re-do it with fewer diamonds? Or can I tune it by adjusting the weave up or down?

Thanks!
