Yesterday, it was one moment after another for me. First, my toddler (Megan, 3yrs next month) treated me to a rendition of "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" during which she accompanied herself on the mini-djembe I bought her a couple of months ago. It wasn't exactly on beat, but I've heard adults do worse! Then she set the djembe in the lap of our infant (Alexis, 1yr next month). Within moments, the 2 year old grabbed an upside-down bucket and handed me a makeshift shaker and the three of us had our own little drum circle going! (And yes, Alexis started wailing on the djembe the second she had it - and did so with a huge smile on her face!) :-)

To top everything off, I always let Megan listen to one of my MP3 players when I put her to bed. I have playlists on there for her that include some albums of kid's songs (mixed in with some select John Williams pieces that she loves - hey, this isn't the FIRST time I've been proud of her)! Anywho, I had been listening to Hossam Ramzy earlier that day and so it automatically started when I turned on the player. Out of habit, I quickly changed it to one of her playlists and she says, "No, Daddy! I want to listen to DRUMMING!!!".

*sniff* Words cannot describe. No "Wheels on the bus" for her. No "Old McDonald", no sir - not for MY little girl! Not even three, yet, and she begs to hear drumming. *sigh* So, she went to sleep listening to the soothing, tranquil sounds of Nevik's "Rakshasa", and I went to go make her a new playlist. Kids - sometimes, they're not so bad! ;-)
